A ring is a good candidate for that "something else" — it's on the same fingers, it's always with you, and nobody notices. The second one is reversible and takes a minute: warm water, a drop of unscented dish soap, a soft toothbrush worked into the gap, then dry it thoroughly. Do that monthly and a well-made spinner keeps turning. If yours seizes and cleaning doesn't fix it, that's a manufacturing fault — contact us.

Not if the base metal is right, and ours is. Green fingers come from plating wearing through to copper or unspecified alloy underneath — and on a spinner ring it wears through fastest exactly where the two bands rub.

Our pieces are sterling silver or 316L stainless steel, including under any gold finish. Worth knowing if you have a severe nickel allergy: 316L releases very little nickel but it isn't nickel-free — the alloy contains roughly 10 to 14 percent, held in place by a passivated surface. Most people with mild sensitivity wear it without trouble. If your allergy is severe, choose one of our sterling silver pieces.

Stainless steel: yes to all three. Sterling silver: fine in the shower, and it will tarnish a little faster — that's silver reacting with the air, not a defect, and a polishing cloth takes it off in under a minute.

Anything with a gold finish should stay dry. Chlorine and salt water strip plating quickly, whatever it's plated over.
